About
I started this blog 15 years ago (2009), a senior in college documenting my time studying abroad in Brazil. Back then it was a Tumblr. I have deliberately chosen to leave most of the posts up. They reflect the meandering growth and evolution of my thoughts, interests, and voice.
At this stage of my life, I should logically transition this to be a strictly professional website, with my CV and publications. But, the joy and adventure of my life has always been rooted in taking the path of my own choosing. I am passionate about many things:
Gardening and landscaping: working within the conditions I have to grow what nourishes me and supports the ecosystem,
Family history: scouring records and interviewing relatives to understand our history & relationship to this country,
Visual and performing arts: dancing, designing, and crafting to gain sanctum from the chaos of the world,
Public health & antiracism: understanding the reasons for the persistence of structural violence and how to undo it,
Peace in the mundane: savoring a sunrise on the porch, once-a-season blooms, a perfect bite, or a sunset in a new country.
There is much I want to do and learn, while also rest, thrive, and be present. This space serves as a reminder of past accomplishments, heartaches, thoughts, and experiences, and all those to come. Welcome.
